The 510 Plotter The new HP Designjet 510 Plotter, the replacement for the HP Designjet 500, is the entry-level plotter with a difference – it has memory. The popular Designjet 500 models, started at a humble 16MB RAM memory, where as the 510 comes standard with 160MB RAM! Keep in mind that at the time that the 500 was released, 16 MB was more than enough for its plotting applications.
The software and computer hardware used for Architectural, Engineering and other technical applications has however evolved and been improved dramatically, which means that your personal plotter needs a serious facelift. So this is exactly what HP has done, they have added HP-GL/2 to the 510, improving the processing speed of the printer with a maximum upgraded memory of 416 MB RAM. The 510 however, despite its cosmetic surgery, still remains the most affordable, entry-level plotter on the market.
